The Vergnet HPV 60 and HPV 100 hydro-pumps are foot-pedal operated.

Employing a flexible hose and foot pedal, it pushes water hydraulically into an expandable rubber bag inside a closed valve-operated stainless-steel cylinder in the pumping element.
The expandable bag increases in size, pushing the water into a discharge pipe. Releasing the force on the foot pedal causes the expandable bag to contract, sucking water into the cylinder.
The discharge and command pipes are made of polyethylene materials connected by brass joints.
The pump is designed for heavy-duty use and to provision 300 persons. The maximum recommended lift is 60 to 70m.
The pump is corrosion-resistant and installs relatively easy.
Maintenance requirements are simple:
- Aboveground components permit easy access for maintenance and repairs.
- Belowground components are difficult to repair.

Borehole characteristics:
- Maximum depth: approximately 70m.
- Minimum well diameter: 100mm.
- Must be free of sediment and sand, as particles caught in the diaphragm can cause a breakdown.
