General information

  • The squatting plate or latrine slab is a polypropylene modular component that fits on pit latrines, shallow or deep trench, to support access to sanitation services in humanitarian emergencies.
  • Depending on the design requirements, the removable cover to reduce odour and flies can be either an articulated hinged cover or a drop hole cover.
  • A pan/bowl or water-seal trap can be installed on the underside of the squatting plate, if required.
  • Fastening can be made by bolting or by means or other secure mechanism. This option is chosen when a connection to a septic tank or to a sewer network is possible or planned
  • One slab should be allowed for 50 people in the first phase of an emergency, but the number should gradually be reduced to the standard minimum of 20 people per latrine.

SQUATTING PLATE, Polypropylene                                                   

  • Standard polypropylene squatting plate 0.8m x 1.2m x 55mm.
  • Smaller polypropylene size squatting plates 0.8m x 0.6m x 62mm.
  • Lightweight and durable UV stabilized polypropylene construction, stackable, resistant    to chemicals, urine and faeces.
  • Resistant to vermin and easy to clean.
  • A removable drop or hinged hole cover is provided to reduce odour and limit fly nuisance.
  • Raised foot placement areas are designed to prevent slipping.
  • The upper side will have a slight slope towards the drop hole of the plate to facilitate cleaning and hygiene.
  • Designed for water-seal installation, with fixing holes at each corner to allow for privacy screening and shelter sheeting.

PAN / BOWL OPTION    

  • The Pour Flush Bowl is made with moulded polypropylene with a smooth surface for easy cleaning.
  • 35° slope for easy flushing with minimal amount of water.
  • The water bowl is acid and scratch resistant.
