General information

The Hygiene Promotion Box contains essential supplies for implementing hygiene-promotion activities in emergencies. It has been designed to facilitate the implementation of a variety of hygiene-promotion activities in various settings. Some of the items in the box are intended for immediate use (e.g., pocket chart, puppet kit), while others serve as examples for mass communication campaigns (e.g., sample posters).

Hygiene Promotion (HP) Boxes are comprised of the following 3 types of equipment:

HP Box A: It contains the essential equipment (IEC materials and background materials) needed to conduct key hygiene-promotion activities targeting dispersed populations at the household level, and where beneficiary numbers are limited.  The target population is 2000-5000 beneficiaries.

HP Box B: Combined with two boxes of HP Box A, it provides the essential equipment to conduct key hygiene-promotion activities for up to 10,000 beneficiaries at multiple sites. It contains the required additional equipment (IT equipment) to conduct key hygiene-promotion activities at the community level.

HP Box C: Combined with four boxes of HP Box A and one HP Box B, it provides the essential equipment to conduct key hygiene-promotion activities for up to 20,000 beneficiaries at multiple sites. It  contains the necessary, additional equipment (administration and logistic equipment) to conduct key hygiene-promotion activities targeting large populations at the community level.

4 packages of A5 laminated cards with illustrations of generic hygiene practices from different regions (LA; Africa and Asia). Each package contains instructions in FR/EN/SP to conduct: 1) pocket chart (voting exercise; 2) three pile sorting; 3) chain of contamination; 4) take 2 children.

4 Poster (A3) with illustrations of generic hygiene practices (use of water at HH level, handwashing and use of latrine). In EN/FR/SP/PT.

2 m W  x 1.5 m L chart fabricated in waterproof polycotton with 20 pockets (4 rows x 5 columns; 20 cm L x 15 W cm). First row on the top and first column in the left must be transparent pockets.

Puppet kit

Felt fabric (2 x 10 m) in different colours, felt markers, tape measure, fabric glue, carbon paper, marking pencil, and sewing kit (scissors, pins, needles, thread, thimble, pins etc). The kit includes basic hand puppets patterns (animals and people).

A4 plain paper (500 sheets) ; coulored paper (different sizes and shapes); pencils; stickers (white / coulored), markers (permanent - different colours); glue stick; blue tack; drawing pins; tape; scissors; post-its (different size, colour, and shape); 4 small white board (A4 size) with non permanent markers (different colours).

Banner kit

Banners (white cotton/poly) with eye lines in different sizes: (2) 475 x 90, (2) 475 x 200, and (2) 300 x 300. Gloves, carbon paper, fabric markers, fabric paints or /and acrylic lacquer, brushes, vinyl letters, plastic stencil patterns for letters, etc. and a roll of nylon rope (50 m).
