General information
The above items are only few examples of plywood material we may use.
Principles for selecting plywood
There are three basic principles for selecting the right type of plywood for any application which are:
- Glue bond type (Different adhesives are used some of which are suitable for wet and/or humid conditions while others are only suitable for dry conditions. Adhesives can also be structural or non structural. Bonding quality is expressed by either adhesive type used or exposure class that it can be used in).
- Natural durability of timber species (Timbers have varying resistance to fungal, insect and termite attack).
- Structural/non structural grade.
Three service categories have been specified depending on the proposed end use of the material:
- Structural plywood for external conditions (including high humidity areas and areas subject to frequent wetting) for floors and walls.
- Structural plywood for external conditions (in low humidity and protected from frequent wetting) for floors and walls.
- Non structural plywood for internal conditions for non load bearing floors and non load bearing partitions/walls.
