Type VI is too loose for hospital compresses |
- Odourless
- Reasonably free of weaving defects and impurities
- Good selvedge
- Not starched
- Not detectable by X-ray
- Non-sterile
- Finished product must be steam sterilized at 134°C
Note: absorbent cotton gauzes below 17 threads/cm2 are too loose and difficult to cut properly into compresses; it also produces higher emissions of small particles; and compresses require extra folds to reach the required absorption level.
