General information
Used for the one-time emptying of a bladder; it should NOT be used to keep a catheter in place. Uses include:
- after an anaesthesia (if the woman is not able to urinate due to secondary effects of anaesthesia)
- before a delivery (to facilitate the progression of the presentation and avoid traumatism to the urinary tract)
- after a delivery (to avoid haemorrhaging)
- in any other situation in which there is urine retention

A straight, flexible hollow tube with an atraumatic rounded and closed tip and 2 lateral eyelets for efficient drainage. The proximal end is fitted to a universal funnel-shaped connector, permitting a safe connection to a urine bag.
