General information
The synthetic blankets are made of polyester virgin and/or recycled fibres.
The thermal comfort depends on the thermal resistance (Rct) and on the air permeability of the blanket. Combined factors influence these characteristics such as weight or the raw material, the fibre quality, the type of weaving, the fibre raising, etc.
The thermal resistance can be measured only in specialized textile laboratories.
Scientific studies have set the minimum requirements for the thermal insulation to keep the body temperature in different conditions.
- Low Thermal type (Rct=0.15m².K/W) is appropriate for indoor use, on a bed, in a house with heating facilities.
- Medium thermal type (Rct=0.25 m².K/W) is the appropriate for hot or temperate climates outdoor use (even in hot countries, nights can be cold).
- High thermal type (Rct=0.4 m².K/W) is appropriate for cold climates.
