General information

Use in general surgery for skin closures (thread gauges: 0-2, 0-3 and  0-4) and for vascular surgery (thread gauge 5-0).

Specifications

Materials:

Thread: polypropylene crystalline stereoisomer and polyolefin.

Needle: treated stainless steel.

Specifications:

Non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture (CnH2n), esp. a synthetic resin of this type.

Blue pigmented suture to enhance visibility.

Polypropylene suture elicits minimal acute inflammatory reactions in tissues; suturing is followed by the gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue.

Thread:

Monofilament is not absorbent, nor is it subject to degradation or weakening by the actions of tissue enzymes.

Monofilament polypropylene are infection-resistant, thus can be used on infected and contaminated wounds.

Its lack of adherence to tissue also facilitates its use as a pull-out suture.

The suture thread is slippery, it requires a 4-throw knot to secure the end.

Thread gauge

Indicated in USP (Unite States pharmacopoeia) and EP (European pharmacopoeia).

Needle:

Type:

Eyeless with the thread attached and mounted on the needle.

Point:

A cutting needle, it has a triangular point with two edges in the horizontal plane and one edge in the vertical plane.

- In a regular cutting needle the vertical edge is located on the inner curvature.

- A cutting needle is designed to cut through dense, difficult-to-penetrate tissue, such as skin.

Shape:

The degree of curvature is described in terms of circumference in &fraq12; to 3/8 of a circle.

Length:

available in different length (18-48mm)
